LIC News

I hope everyone had a wonderful June and enjoyed America's 250th birthday. It was great to see so many Landisville families at the Bookmobile today. This is your mid-summer reminder that for students to progress and stay on track to be successful in school, there are 4 key things to do each day over the summer.

Do Something for your Brain- I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for students to be automatic with their multiplication facts. Flashcards at home are the best way to accomplish this! Dollar Tree and many website have low-cost choices for this. If your child is automatic with their multiplication facts, there are a lot of great math websites that I have vetted over the years. Reach out to me if you have questions: ian_daecher@hempfieldsd.org.

Do Something for your Mind- Read, read, read! The Lancaster Public Library gave presentations to all students in May about summer reading. See this website for more details. Students should be reading at least 20 minutes every day in the summer.

Do Something for your Body- Students should exercise every day. Summer is the perfect time to get out and ride bikes, swim, or practice a sport.

Do Something for your Family- Have a discussion about a safe, age-appropriate chore your child can do for the family every day.

Please remind students to do their 'Dr. Daecher Summer Homework.'
