CHIP covers uninsured children and teens up to age 19 – and no family earns too much to qualify. With nearly 128,000 uninsured children in Pennsylvania, this is great news for families!

CHIP provides quality, comprehensive health insurance for routine doctor’s visits, prescriptions, dental, eye care, eyeglasses, mental health, and much more. CHIP covers uninsured kids who are not eligible for Medical Assistance. For many families, CHIP is free; for others, it is low-cost.

FallFest!

We look forward to everyone joining us for our PTO FallFest. It will be held in front of LIC from 4:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. Please park at LPC and the LIC bus rider loop parking lot. Our PTO has set up games for all to enjoy. There will be food to purchase from our PTO and food trucks. 

Back to School Knight

We look forward to seeing parents/guardians at our Back to School Knight starting at 7 pm. Just a reminder, this meeting is for parents/guardians only.

Lockdown Drill

Today, we conducted our lockdown drill. Just as we practice drills for weather and fire-related safety, we also practice how to respond in the event of an intruder. Students and staff need to be familiar with the process, procedures, and routines. With each drill, we learn ways to refine and improve our safety plans. Mr. Bill Gleason, Hempfield School District’s Safety and Security Supervisor, also participated in our drill, and we will utilize his feedback to strengthen our plan. 

Each classroom teacher talked with their class about the lockdown drill prior to it occurring. The teacher emphasized that this is just a drill and that there is no reason for concern at this time. The teacher also explained the importance of practicing these drills so we are prepared in the event of a real emergency. 

As part of this drill, the intruder alarm was activated and an announcement was made throughout our building. We want our students to understand our plan if we were to have an intruder in the building. Please consider talking with your student at home about this drill so they feel comfortable and secure.

There is no topic more important than the safety and security of our students and the staff who work with them in our schools.

The first HHS home football game is this Friday!   Before you head to the game, take a moment to review our stadium guidelines to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

High School Athletic Season Passes are on sale now! Beat the lines and purchase yours this week:

• General Public: Buchanan Office, 8–2:30 and 3–4 pm daily
• Students: Athletic Department throughout the school day
• Game Day 9/4: Passes will be available at the stadium starting at 5:30 pm

We look forward to our Back-to-School-Knight tomorrow from 7-8:30 pm. This meeting is for parents/guardians only. Please remember that this evening is for learning about the school, the curriculum, and the procedures to expect during the year. If you have individual questions or concerns about your child, please reach out to your child's teacher to discuss.

We will begin in the cafeteria at 7 pm to discuss PTO information and general LIC information.

From 7:30-7:55 pm, there will be grade-level-specific meetings.

At 8 pm, you will be able to transition to your child's classroom or another classroom to connect with teachers.

Hempfield School District is hiring Special Education Paraprofessionals across the district, as well as for other positions. $1,000 stipend available for paraprofessionals working in our Autistic Support classrooms this school year.
