The Hempfield Foundation is again holding its 4th annual bookmark design contest to celebrate Read Across America Month in March. This contest is open to all elementary, middle, and high school students in the Hempfield School District.

Information sheets will be sent home with all students K-6. Middle and high school students can find copies of the event flyer in the CMS, LMS, and HHS libraries.

Using the template on the information sheet, students are encouraged to use their creativity to show why they love reading. The Foundation is looking for positive messages and artwork that is executed by hand. No computer-generated submissions will be accepted.

The Hempfield Foundation board will select semifinalists for each school level, and these submissions will be shared via the Foundation’s Facebook page. From those selections, the Hempfield community will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite elementary, middle school, and high school submission during Read Across America month (March 16 – March 23). The winners of each category (Elementary School/Middle School/High School) will be announced on Facebook and Instagram on March 26.

The winning elementary design will be printed and distributed to all elementary students, the winning middle school design will be available to middle school students, and the winning high school design will be available to high school students. In addition, the winners of each category will receive a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card.

Submissions must be turned into a student’s school office no later than Monday, March 9, 2026. If you have questions or would like additional information, please email the Foundation at hempfieldfoundation@gmail.com.
